Wedding photography at Archbishops Palace
Situated in the County town of Kent, Maidstone, the Archbishops Palace is a popular venue for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies. Right next to the river Medway this picturesque Palace has a choice of ceremony rooms depending on the size of the wedding. Couples can arrive by car or river and there is ample car parking in the area. Formally the fourteenth century residence of Archbishops of Canterbury this lovely building is a very popular with Brides and Grooms. I have done many weddings here over the years and there are plenty of good locations at the Archbishops Palace for all the group shots and the Bride and Grooms special shots on their own.
For a small wedding up to 15 guests there is the Warham room. The Undercroft hosts 40 guests and has river views and a sloping floor like a theatre so everyone gets a good view of the ceremony. Upstairs the light and airy Solar room holds 50 guests and has a lovely fire place which the couples stand in front of. For larger wedding at the Archbishops Palace the wood panelled Great Hall can hold 100 guests.
Brides make their entrance through a large wooden door and walk down the aisle and stand in front of the large fireplace. Some guests at the back sit on a raised platform for a better view. Signing the register takes place on a large table lit by a window overlooking the river Medway. Once married the Bride and Groom exit the Palace at the opposite end of the room and go outside and down some concrete steps. I use these steps for a group shot of everyone and then take the bridal party round the side of the Archbishops Palace to one of the grassed areas for the rest of the group shots. For the photographs of the bride and groom on their own I like to use the Walled herb garden. This garden has a variety of locations including a covered arch and several concrete seats.
For smaller weddings at the Archbishop Palace my DVD packages are now very popular. The bride and groom are supplied with all the images in hi-resolution in a presentation box. Various album packages are also available with prices to suit every couple.
